Capturing these magical first moments with your baby will preserve special memories through photography for a life time. Schedule your session within the first couple of weeks. Babies grow fast so the sooner the better for a sleepier baby to achieve curled up adorable poses.
Clothing for family members should not distract from baby. No logos on shirts. Soft neutral colours such as white, cream, grey and pastels tend to look best. For the newborn I just use diaper covers and wraps not full outfits that hide the baby. I have a large variety here you can choose from. Your welcome to bring items from home too. Have your baby arrive in something easily removed, not having to go over head. Give baby a good feed before leaving home then he/she will likely sleep. I should be able to remove the sleeper without waking up the baby on my cozy warm bean bag allowing me to start photos right away. Of course if baby does wake up then your welcome to feed and change diapers as often as needed. The studio will be warm to help keep the baby content. Bring essentials, diapers, wipes and diaper pad. A pacifier can be very helpful too.
I have a lot of experience with newborns and children. I have raised three of my own and have had the pleasure of photographing many families for 25 years in my custom built well stocked studio. If your baby fusses or takes some time to settle, don’t worry, take a deep breath and trust me, you will have lots of beautiful photographs to treasure.
