Wow, my daughter is graduating already. Where did the time go? It seems like only yesterday she was a little girl, and now she is a young beautiful woman.
I have been lucky enough to photograph several graduating students this year. It’s such an exciting step in their life’s journey, and I love being able to capture the moment for them.
Hair and Makeup – Pre-Shoot
I think sometimes people underestimate the importance of having their hair and makeup done. I am not sure if they don’t have the time, or the resources to go get it done, but I feel it’s always a wise investment before a shoot. Not only does it help the model relax before the shoot, it also helps them look exactly how they envisioned.
Hair and makeup are by no means only designated to weddings or special events, it’s a nice treat before any shoot as it helps the photos look more professional and flawless.
My Daughter’s Transformation
I took my daughter to The Parlour, located in Langley at the Brookswood village shopping plaza, to have her hair and makeup done for her high school graduation.
She had found a photo on the internet that she fell in love with and gave the image to Hailey ( her stylist). Swept off to the side, with a slight curl and a few pin curls at the back, Hailey was in for a real challenge. But like a true professional, but she nailed it.
For makeup, a flawless base was applied to the face with a sheer highlight to the cheeks. This gives a nice glow in photos and makes the model look “dewy”. For her eyes, a grey smoky cut-crease, winged liner, and some falsies were applied. Her makeup artist made sure her brows were in perfect shape as well. A nude lip finished off the look.
My daughter was very happy with her hair and makeup, and I was very impressed with the attention to detail and amazing customer service.
The Parlour
The Parlour Day Spa is fairly new to our community but has a very relaxing and beautiful ambiance about it. It is well laid out and large enough to handle a large bridal party for hair and makeup, as well as a “men’s Den” (barber shop) that includes haircuts, hot shaves and other custom services geared towards pampering that special man. And last but certainly not least, they have a full-service day Spa
