I am commonly asked “why do I need engagement photos?” It is a good exercise to have your photographer take engagement photos before covering your wedding, because I find it a fun way to get some personal insight into your relationship which gives me more ideas on how to photograph a couple. Most people are a little uncomfortable in front of a camera but this experience will let you relax and be playful without the time pressure on a wedding day. When the couple sees their beautiful portraits it builds confidence and trust between the couple and photographer. I find it much easier to photograph a couple the second time and the couple knows what to expect.
The images will be used for a multitude of purposes such as invitations, save-the-dates, slideshow, guest books and reception decor. Be sure to give your photographer credit when using professional images.
