We all dream of the perfect wedding day. We wake up, the sun is shining, we get ready and everything goes off without a hitch. But we also know there is no way to predict or control the weather. No matter what month your wedding is, you always need a “plan B” just in case of rain.
I recently photographed Alexis & Jonathan’s summer outdoor wedding at Redwoods Golf Course in North Langley, and it rained all day and all night. Because of the rain, the ceremony had to be moved under a tent to protect the bride and groom, and their guests. Had I not known the original plan, I wouldn’t have had the slightest idea this was actually the “plan B” because it was done seamlessly.
Redwoods have a beautiful white tent complete with chandeliers, black tulle fabric, and white mini-lights. The tent provided shelter but we still had the beautiful green backdrop of the golf course.
Redwoods Golf Course has a lovely large gazebo area that is fully covered to protect you from the elements. This location was perfect for family photos as well as bridal party photos. We still went off to Fort Langley with the wedding party for some photos taking shelter with umbrellas and architecture.
After the pictures, it was time for the banquet and dancing. This was also held under the tent outside. The clear walls come down keeping the room warm and they have heaters if needed. It provided plenty of room for the banquet dishes and tables, and plenty of room for DJ Craig Robinson with Dance Party DJ’s to get the dance floor rocking.
Despite the rain, the day was a big success. When you are planning and outdoor wedding it’s always best to talk to your wedding planner, or venue regarding a backup plan for bad weather. It will help ensure your wedding goes exactly the way you want it to.
